Raymond Lambert

Raymond Lambert ( * October 18, 1914, † February 25, 1997 ) was a Swiss mountaineer.

Life

Raymond Lambert lived in Geneva and started early with the mountaineering in the western Alps. He took over his life participated in several major expeditions, get doing some significant first ascents and first ascents (eg Petit Dru, Fissure Lambert ). At Mount Everest in 1952 he presented together with Tenzing Norgay a new world altitude record (about 8650m ).

  • Mount Everest, 8848 m ( Himalaya, Nepal / Tibet ) in 1952, two Swiss expeditions (spring and autumn) attempt a first ascent of the south side, Lambert presents Premonsoon with Tenzing Norgay a new world altitude record (about 8650m ).
  • Cho Oyu, 8188 meters ( Himalaya, Nepal / Tibet ) in 1954 attempted second ascent together with Claude Kogan and the other a few days after the first ascent by Tichy / Jöchler / Dawa
  • Yangra Kangri, 7422 m ( Ganesh Himal, Nepal / Tibet ) first ascent on October 24, 1955 along with Eric Guachet and Claude Kogan.
  • Distaghil Sar 7885 m ( Karakoram, Pakistan ) Erstbesteigungsversuch 1959 on the southwest ridge by a Swiss expedition led by Raymond Lambert
