Raynerius of Split

Rainer of Spalato (* in the 12th century in Italy, † August 4, 1180 at Split, Croatia ) is a Catholic saint and martyr.

Rainer of Spalato is the patron of the city of Split. He was there for many years Archbishop. Previously, he was Kamaldulensermönch, which was in 1154 Bishop of Cagli in Umbria. He died probably by stoning by Slovenes on a mountain near Split, as he defended the property rights of the Catholic Church. His feast is celebrated on August 4.
