Rayners Lane tube station

Rayners Lane is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Harrow. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 5, at the junction of Rayners Lane, Alexandra Avenue and Imperial Drive. The area served by the Metropolitan Line and the Piccadilly Line station was used in 2011 of 3.98 million passengers.

The Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line ) opened on July 4, 1904, the distance between Harrow-on- the-Hill and Uxbridge. First, the trains were pulled by steam locomotives; this was accounted for with the inclusion of electrical operation on 1 January 1905. More than two years the trains at this point without stopping by, due to the still low density of development, the station was first built subsequently and finally opened on May 26, 1906.

On March 1, 1910, the opening of the line from South Harrow was carried forth, making it also trains the Metropolitan District Railway (now the District Line ) was now possible to drive up to Uxbridge. The Piccadilly Line replaced the District Line on 23 October 1933., 1938, the station building was completely rebuilt to a design by Charles Holden.
