History

Situated on the border of Belgium northern French mining area around Lens, Lille, Tourcoing, Roubaix and Valenciennes is one of the very earliest strongholds of French football. The club in 1906 as Racing Club Lensois was founded; it took its present name shortly after the First World War. Racing was until about the turn of the 20th to the 21st century - and therefore far beyond the end of coal mining beyond - as the French " buddy club" per se; the French use for the by no negative connotations name " Gueules noires " ( "Black and seizure "). This image have long peddled club, supporters, city officials and the media. In fact, he was rather the association of the local mining company from Lens - Lievin: Members of the Executive articulated and funded the club for decades, built on the company premises, the stadium, employed until the 1960s, a majority of the players - for a move up to the Senior Squad often a change from the lower to the above-ground employment meant - and also supported Racing's official fan club Les Sang et Or
