Real image

A real image of a light -reflective or luminous object in the optical system, an optical image that can be displayed, in contrast to a virtual image on a screen.

From the location of the real image really go light rays (in this case one speaks of a screen ) or from an object point outgoing rays have met there and now go apart again ( Space ).

Important examples are:

  • The image in a pinhole camera.
  • The image on the screen of a television.
  • The image that produces a convergent lens of an object that is further away from the main plane than the focal length indicates. Depending on the ratio of focal length and object distance this can be reduced to be the same size or larger.
