Réal Ménard

Réal Ménard ( born May 13, 1962 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a Canadian politician and former Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada.

Ménard is a member of the Bloc Québécois and outed himself as the second member of the Canadian Parliament.

After his schooling Ménard studied politics and achieved a Bachelor and Master in political science. He joined the general election in 1984 for the Parti du Québec nationaliste and lost. Only when the general election, 1993, he succeeded in gaining the Canadian House of Commons, representing the newly formed Bloc Québécois. In the following elections in 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006, he succeeded in each case the re-election for the constituency of Hochelaga. Ménard was involved in the Parliament, in particular for health policy and for immigration and citizenship.

In June 2009, Ménard resigned as House deputy. For the Montreal local party Vision Montreal he was a candidate in the municipal elections and was elected on 1 November 2009 the Mayor of the Borough of Mercier - Hochelaga -Maisonneuve.
