History

John O. Stevens / Steve Andreas founded the publishing house first to publish a book of his mother, Barry Stevens and the psychotherapist Carl Rogers, for which no publisher could be found. By meeting with Fritz Perls in 1968, and by publishing the book Gestalt Therapy Verbatim, the publisher contributed quite substantially to the further discovery of the Gestalt therapy in the United States.

Gestalt Therapy Verbatim based on tape recordings of psychotherapeutic work of Fritz Perls from the years 1966 to 1968 at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. These records John O. Stevens had transferred with the help of his mother, Barry Stevens in writing.

This was followed in 1969 Fritz Perls' autobiography In and Out the Garbage Pail and among other things 1970 Barry Stevens ' book Do not Push the River. Stevens found - apart from the field of Gestalt therapy - particularly in the human potential movement of the 1970s widespread.

Additional authors include, inter alia, the tai chi master Al Chung- Liang Huang; Violet Oaklander, Gestalt therapy developed for children, and John O. Stevens himself with his Gestalt Therapy Book Awareness ( German: The Art of Perception ).

Since 1979, Real People Press publishes mainly literature on Neuro- Linguistic Programming.
