The Realtek Semiconductor Corp.. (Chinese瑞昱 半导体 股份有限公司) is a fabless company, which is engaged in the development of ICs for PCs. Realtek was founded in October 1987 and the company's shares are traded on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since 1998. The company is located in the Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu / Taiwan (Republic of China). Since 2013 Realtek employs 2000 people, of which 78 % are engaged in research and development.

Products

Realtek developed especially affordable products in the multimedia and communications for OEM manufacturers. Realtek manufactures and sells a variety of products around the world. The product lines are focused on three categories: Communications Network ICs, computer peripheral ICs and multimedia ICs.

Known products

The company is known for its networking chips, which are generally equipped with NIC for Ethernet, and for his AC97 and HDA codecs that are usually part of an integrated on the motherboard sound solutions. The audio company's solutions are based on techniques already adopted in 1995 company Avance Logic (indicated by the name prefixes and AS ALC). Avance Logic has been incorporated into the Group's complete end of 2002.
