Reamonn

Reamonn was a German rock band that became famous for her hit Supergirl.

Band History

Rea Garvey, former singer and guitarist of Reckless Pedestrians in 1998 came from Ireland to Germany. He slapped his first as a T -shirt vendor at festivals through and played as a solo entertainer in pubs. Then he moved to the country in the near Wilhelm village ( district Ravensburg ) and was a newspaper advertisement ( " singer seeks band for album and tour " ) in the " Stockacher indicator " on what at first Mike Gommeringer, then Sebastian Padotzke, Uwe Bossert and Philipp Rauenbusch reported. They officially came together in November 1998. The band's name comes from the Irish form of Garvey's name, Réamonn. On New Years Eve 1998/1999, they played the first time together in Stockach.

In April 1999, the band played a showcase, and she received offers from several record labels. In June 1999, the band signed a record deal with Virgin Records and in November the first album was recorded. The band writes their songs together.

In May 2000 their debut album Tuesday, which reached number 5 in the German charts appeared; the first single Super Girl peaked at # 4 Reamonn came in the opening act of the Guano Apes, HIM, a-ha and Robbie Williams. The following year Reamonn was the theme music for ProSieben Television Production Fort Boyard with the cover version of In Zaire - at Place of No Return. In February 2006, Reamonn changed the record company and is now under contract with Universal Music. In April 2006, the fifth album Wish appeared. Due to health problems by Rea Garvey, who had to undergo surgery on the vocal cords, which is planned for 2006 Wish Tour was postponed to early 2007.

In May 2007, a live recording of the concert in Oberhausen was titled Wish Live on CD and DVD. On 6 September 2008, the band had a cameo in the 120 - person village Walkerbach in Bavaria. In November 2008, the album Reamonn appeared. The first single from the album Through the Eyes of a Child reached # 6 on the German charts.

In January 2009, she organized an action with the radio station SWR3. 80 SWR 3 listener could win a trip to Ireland together with the band.

End of August 2010 announced Reamonn that they will separate after eleven years as a band. The best-of album, " Eleven ," on the three new songs included will be the last CD publication.

This information was denied shortly after by the band. Reamonn go only in a " creative break ". A final separation of the band was not planned. Singer Rea Garvey presented a return already in view: " Reamonn come back ."

Social Commitment

Reamonn is involved in various projects. In February 2001, Garvey, Rauenbusch and Bossert traveled with UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Ute -Henriette Ohoven to Minsk and presented there to the Children's Cancer Hospital a check of more than 120 000 DM

That same year, a cover version of Falco's Jeanny, which started Reamonn along with Xavier Naidoo appeared. On 24 October 2008 Reamonn occurred prior to the speech of Barack Obama at the Berlin Victory Column in front of 200,000 people. Rea Garvey gave the presidential candidate his band ring, so this was an honorary member of Reamonn.
