Reana del Rojale

Reana del Rojale ( Friulian Reane dal Roial ) is a municipality with 5031 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli- Venezia Giulia. It is located about nine kilometers north of Udine. The neighboring municipalities are Nimis, Povoletto Tarcento, Tavagnacco, Tricesimo and Udine. The districts are called Cortale, Qualso, Reana, Remugnano, Ribis Rizzolo, Valle, Vergnacco and Zompitta.

The suburb Vergnacco is mentioned in documents from the 14th century under the name Verniacum. The oldest document with the first mention of the town dates back to 1360. The church is dedicated to St. Thomas and St. Mark.

The main economic factor is agriculture, but also commercial activities are emphasized.

Vergnacco located 14 kilometers north of Udine with a magnificent view of the Carnic and Julian Alps. Even if the site does not claim the designation DOC eastern hills of Friuli, yet the wine has great significance. From Vergnacco you can see on the upstream hills are cultivated with a variety of autochthonous ( indigenous ) olive groves with vineyards, grain fields and in the last few years.

Traffic

The village is right on the railway line " Pontebbana " ( connection Tarvisio - Udine) and has its own train station.
