REAPER

REAPER (Rapid Environment for Audio Prototyping and Efficient Recording) is a technology developed by the company Cockos Software for Digital Audio Workstations (DAW ) for music production.

Version 4 has been released by the developers in early August 2011.

Functions

Reaper supports multi-track recording and editing, MIDI recording and editing, internal non- real-time downmix and trace amounts Effekteinschleifung. The routing concept waived special bus, Aux and MIDI tracks, each track may also contain audio and MIDI data. Multi-track section using object grouping similar Samplitude possible. Both individual elements as well as complete tracks can be grouped. An editor for the direct manipulation of waveforms at sample level does not exist. As in other commercial DAWs standard effects such as EQs, compressors and reverb are included in REAPER.

Other notable features are:

  • Support of common drivers and plug-in standards: ASIO, WDM, WASAPI, VST, DXi, AU
  • Internal 64 -bit audio engine
  • So-called actions, with the combination of which can create complex macros. This allows the user, among other things, the behavior, control and shape the graphical interface of the program. Actions can MIDI-/OSC-Befehlen and keyboard shortcuts are assigned to and be integrated into the menus and toolbars.
  • Easy-to -learn and internal scripting language JS (Jesus Sonic ) with an integrated development environment to easily create your own audio and midi plug-ins
  • Extension API ( C and Python support) to expand the functionality of the program (eg, to create their own actions)
  • Various extensions which are in some cases considerably enlarge the range of functions available free of charge
  • Control commands via MIDI or OSC protocol
  • Reaper internal modulation of instrument and effect parameters (eg LFO )
  • Little need space and resources (Download: < 15 MB)
  • Portability ( install on flash -memory possible)
  • Monthly updates
  • No copy protection
  • Active and helpful online community
