Rebecca Adlington
Rebecca Adlington, OBE ( born February 17, 1989 in Mansfield, United Kingdom) is a former British freestyle swimmer.
In the Short Course World Championships 2008 in Manchester Adlington was with a new European record time world champion in the 800 m freestyle. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing she won gold medals in the 400m freestyle and the 800m freestyle.
In 2009 she received the Laureus World Sports Award in the category of " Breakthrough of the Year ". With the World Swimming Championships 2009 in Rome Rebecca Adlington won two bronze medals, with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay in a new European record time and more than 400 m freestyle.
2010 Adlington won at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi four medals: gold in the 400m and 800m freestyle and bronze over 200m freestyle and the 4x200 m freestyle relay.
In February 2013 Adlington announced they were withdrawing from professional swimming.
In November and December 2013 Adlington took part in the thirteenth season of the British reality show I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! , where she was elected to sixth place.
