Rebii Erkal

Rebii Erkal ( born February 20, 1911 in Istanbul, † November 1985 ) was a Turkish football player and coach. Due to joining Galatasaray and Fenerbahce he associated with these clubs. He was in 1951 working for about five months as coach of the Turkish national team.

Playing career

Association

Erkal began playing football in the youth of Galatasaray Istanbul and was inducted into the first team in 1928. This association was founded two decades earlier by students of the high school and still had a firm belonging to the school. After he spent seven seasons with the Red - Yellow active, it came within the team to a violent controversy. As a result, parted under the leadership of Yusuf Ziya Öniş Ulvi Yenal and several players and of the team and founded the association Güneş SK. Among the players who left Galatasaray and switched to Güneş, was also Erkal. From the summer of 1938 they played in İstanbul Futbol Ligi ( German: Istanbul Football League ), the same league as Galatasaray. In the season 1937/38, he reached with this team the championship of the league.

As Güneş was dissolved after three years and most of the players returned to Galatasaray, Erkal moved to city rivals Fenerbahce. He played five seasons in length, in which he was Küme with his team twice champion of Millî. For the summer of 1944 he ended his professional football playing career.

National

Erkal was appointed in 1931 by then- coach Bela Toth for the first time in the squad of the Turkish national team and played in two Balkan Cup encounters.

1936 Erkal was nominated as part of the 1936 Summer Olympic Games in the squad of the Turkish national team. As part of a test game for this tournament, he wore the national jersey for the third time. During the tournament, he was active in the only game of his team and retired with his team already in the second round of the tournament. After the Summer Olympics in 1937, he played a further and final time for the national team.

Coaching career

After his football career as a player he began to work as a football coach. As his first role he took over after his football playing career the Istanbul club Vefa SK. In addition, he trained his entire coaching career with Adalet SK, Beyoğluspor and Kasımpaşa Istanbul Istanbul exclusively clubs.

On June 17, 1951, he took over the Turkish national team and looked after them until 21 November 1951., He worked a total of three internationals as coach and reached there with his team two wins and one loss.
