Rebstein

Rebstein is a municipality in the constituency Rhine valley in the canton of St. Gallen on the western slopes of the Rhine Valley.

Geography

The neighboring municipalities are Marbach SG, Balgach, Upper Riet and Reute AR.

Economy

Originally in Rebstein - hence the local name - mainly operated viticulture, before he was ousted in the 19th century by the embroidery. After the melioration of the Rhine valley 1941-1953 productive areas were free and agriculture as well as the industry could settle on the plain. Today, a total of 3 hectares of viticulture is operated.

The brewery Sonnenbräu, the last private brewery in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley is located in Rebstein. With the company Züco has a leading European office chairs and seating furniture manufacturer headquartered in Rebstein.
