Rebutia minuscula is a flowering plant in the genus Rebutia from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).

Description

Rebutia minuscula growing clumping with flattened spherical, dull green bodies, forming large groups. The bodies reach in diameter of up to 5 centimeters and possess fibrous roots. The 16 to 20 ribs are divided into low, clearly visible hump. The present thereon very small circular to elliptical areoles are brown. The fine, whitish spines 25 to 30 can not be divided into central and radial spines. They are between 1 to 3 millimeters long.

The bright red, sometimes yellow or white flowers are 3.5 to 6.5 inches long and have diameters from 2.5 to 4 centimeters. They usually appear very numerous at the base of the body. The spherical fruit is red, and have a diameter of up to 3 millimeters.

Systematics and distribution

Rebutia minuscula is widespread in northern Argentina in the provinces of Salta and Tucumán in altitudes from 1000 to 1500 meters.

The first description was in 1895 by Karl Moritz Schumann veröffentlicht.Nomenklatorische synonyms are Echinocactus minusculus FACWeber (1896 ), Echinopsis minuscula ( K.Schum. ) FACWeber (1896) and Lobivia minuscula ( K.Schum. ) HPKelsey & Dayton (1942 ).
