Recea-Cristur

Recea - Cristur (deprecated Rece - Crestur; Hungarian Récekeresztúr or Hidegkeresztúr ) is a municipality in the district of Cluj in Transylvania, Romania. It is located in Somes Highlands in the north- western Transylvania and consists of nine villages.

Population

In the year 1992 1812 inhabitants were registered in the community. 1669 of these were Romanians, 138 were Roma and five were Magyars.

History

The place Recea - Cristur was first mentioned in 1320 and was originally inhabited by Hungarians. In 1700, Romanians must be numerically come to the fore; in 1706 the Hungarian Reformed church was taken over by the Romanians.
