Rechelle Hawkes

Rechelle Hawkes ( born May 20, 1967 in Albany ) was eight years captain of the Australian national hockey team, the Hockeyroos. She won three gold medals at three different Olympic Games, which beside her under Australians only the swimmer Dawn Fraser succeeded.

Her debut in the national team set Hawkes in 1985. A milestone in her career was her 250th game for the national team in 1999.

Hawkes took part in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, 1992 Barcelona, partly in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney 1996. 1988, 1996 and 2000, she won the gold medal with the national hockey team of Australia. In 1992, she reached only the fifth place. At the Olympic Summer Games 2000 in her home country she spoke the Olympic oath at the opening ceremony.
