Recife Metro

Metrô do Recife is operated by the railway company CBTU / Metrorec and consists of 28 stations with a total track length of 39.5 km. 210,000 passengers used this means of transport daily.

There are plans for further expansion of the metro to Santa Luzia, Rodoviária ( Linha Centro), Tancredo Neves Airport ( Aeroporto ), Prazeres e cashew tree Secound Cabo ( Linha Sul ).

History

The consortium Metrorec was founded in September 1982 by the Brazilian Ministry of Transport, still under the Rede Ferroviária Federal ( Federal Railway Network - RFFSA ) and by the Empresa Brasileira de Transportes Urbano ( Brazilian Company of Urban Transport ), which no longer exists today. Construction of the metro began in January 1983. In February 1984, in Rio de Janeiro, the national railway company, Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbano ( Brazilian Company of Urban Trains - CBTU ) was founded in the Metrorec in January 1985 integrated.

The metro from Recife was founded on the basis of two lines, the Linha Centro ( center line ) and the Linha Sul ( south line ). Still in 1988 saw the line Trem Sul / Trem diesel added ( Südzug / Diesel ).

The trains of the Linha do Centro, which leave the station of Recife, connect the downtown with the railway stations Camaragibe and Jaboatão.

The company also operates various bus lines Metrorec, which can be combined with the metro. These buses have a connection from the train stations Recife, Joana Bezerra (lines Centro e Sul ), Afogados, Barro, Cavaleiro, Jaboatão e Camaragibe ( linha Centro).
