Recoil (Band)

Recoil is a musical solo project of former Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder.

Since the early 1980s, Wilder tried in addition to working with Depeche Mode also on her own songs. When Daniel Miller, head of the band Mute label heard some demo recordings, he offered Wilder, to produce these new and to publish under a pseudonym. In August 1986, finally a two- song EP was released 1 2. Followed in 1988 Hydrology, which together with 1 2 as Hydrology appeared in the CD and cassette version plus 1 2.

After the first two albums consisted mainly of samples from Depeche Mode songs, Wild took advantage of the pause after Depeche Mode's World Violation Tour to intense to deal with their own material. For the first seven songs full Recoil album Bloodline, published in 1992, he won a guest singer in the studio. The Alex Harvey Cover " Faith Healer " sang Douglas McCarthy, singer of the band Nitzer Ebb, while Toni Halliday of Curve in " Edge to Life" and " Bloodline " was involved and Moby rapped on " Curse". " Faith Healer " formed beyond the first single of Recoil.

Also in the fourth, published in 1997 Recoil album Unsound Methods Wilder collaborated with other musicians, including re- Douglas McCarthy and wife Hepzibah Sessa Wilders. Wilder produced Unsound Methods, the first album after his departure from Depeche Mode, in his private studio " The Thin Line ". There also the successor Liquid, which appeared in 2000 and on the Wilder continued his guest singers concept was born. This time supported him, among others, Diamanda Galás, Nicole Blackman and the Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet.

After it has been a long time Liquid quiet around Recoil, in September 2006 announced a new album to Wilder. In subHuman, which appeared in July 2007, worked with the blues musician Joe Richardson and singer Carla Trevaskis.

On 16 April 2010, the best-of album Selected for the Alan Wilder has 14 songs from the previous Recoil albums selected and re-mastered appeared. Following Wilder went first with his project on tour. Of the total of 52 Selected Events the concert in Budapest was recorded on 4 December 2010 and published in July 2012 under the title A Strange Hour in Budapest exclusively on Blu -Ray.
