Recto and verso

Verso (Latin versus " turned, rotated " ) refers to the back of a sheet of paper, papyrus, parchment, or a banknote (with coins: lapel ). In papyrology Originally designated it the most undescribed outside of the papyrus scroll on which the individual papyrus strips are perpendicular to the header lines and the roll length. Abbreviation pagination by a superscript "v ", eg 76v.

The opposite is Recto.
