Rectus capitis lateralis muscle

The rectus capitis lateralis (Latin for " lateral straight muscle head ") is a small, short and shallow skeletal muscle in the area of ​​deep neck and is located laterally of the first head joint. He draws from the transverse process of the atlas to the processus jugularis of the occipital bone.

He belongs to the deep neck triangle, but not the so-called location- standing back muscles in the strict sense, because it is innervated by the anterior branch of C1, as well as the rectus capitis anterior. The short neck muscles also include inferior rectus capitis posterior major yet, rectus capitis posterior minor, musculus obliquus capitis superior and abdominal capitis.
