Red Bank is a municipality in Monmouth County, she was in the U.S. state of New Jersey, incorporated 1908. During the census in the U.S. in 2000 had 11,844 inhabitants.

The town of Red Bank was formed as such on March 17, 1870 from portions of Shrewsbury Township. On 14 February 1879, they became Shrewsbury City, a portion of Shrewsbury County, however, this only until 15 May 1879 when Red Bank regained its independence. On March 10, 1908 Red Bank was by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature in isolation as a community of Shrewsbury Township.

Historical buildings

In Red Bank is the historic Timothy Thomas Fortune House. The house was the residence of the born as a slave journalists Timothy Thomas Fortune and is at number 94 on West Bergen Place. The building was added on 8 December 1976 by the National Register of Historic Places under the number 76,001,171 as a historical monument. In addition, there was an entry in the National Historic Landmark.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, Red Bank has an area of 5.6 km ². 4.6 km ² of which are land and 1.0 km ² ( 17.13 %) water.

Red Bank is located on the south bank of the Navesink River, north of Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is not far from New York City. Red Bank is adjacent to the Middletown Township and the communities Tinton Falls, Fair Haven, Shrewsbury and Little Silver.
