Red Buttons

Red Buttons (real name Aaron Chwatt; born February 5, 1919 in New York City; † 13 July 2006 Los Angeles ) was an American actor.

Life and work

Button was primarily known as a comedian. In addition, he also wrote very successful songs and entered into his live programs as a singer. Before the Second World War he worked as an entertainer in clubs, before he became a soldier. After returning from the war, he played at the Broadway theater, especially in comic roles. In 1952, he received his own television show, which became his springboard to Hollywood. In 1958 he was awarded an Oscar for his supporting role in Sayonara next Marlon Brando. Outside of his film career, he was a welcome guest in the hotel clubs of Las Vegas. In his films he was mainly seen in comic supporting roles.

Red Buttons died on 13 July 2006 from the effects of vascular disease.
