Red Funnel

The Red Funnel Group, short Red Funnel is a ferry company with offices in Southampton ( England). The ferries on the route between Southampton and Cowes (Isle of Wight ).

History

The company was founded in 1820 by George Ward and William Fitzhugh as Isle of Wight Royal Mail Steam Packet Company in Southampton. The correct company name is now Southampton Isle of Wight and south of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited, the trading name of Red Funnel means to German Red chimney and refers to the distinctive red painted chimneys on the ships of the fleet.
