Red (King-Crimson-Album)

Occupation

Formation

In 1974, Robert Fripp was the last remaining founding member of King Crimson, which existed after the departure of violinist David Cross only as a trio ( Fripp, Bill Bruford, John Wetton ). The psychedelic, largely harmonious sound of the first albums - with a few exceptions such as 21st Century Schizoid Man from the debut album - had already reached its peak Islands from 1971.

King Crimson, who had acquired a reputation as an excellent live band since its founding in 1969, began with the following album Larks ' Tongues in Aspic (1973 ) to transfer the energy of their live performances on their studio albums.

Red is the last album this relatively experimental phase of the band, until 1981 together found himself with the New Wave -oriented album Discipline.

For the first time since his departure in 1969 was on this album Ian McDonald again involved.

Trivia
