Red River (manga)

Anatolia Story (Japanese天は赤い河のほとり, Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori, dt "Heaven is located on the banks of the Red River " ) is a completed manga series of Japanese illustrator Chie Shinohara that the shōjo genre is to be assigned. The story tells of a modern girl who is ripped from their daily lives to ancient Anatolia.

Action

Yuri Suzuki, a 15- year-old Japanese high school student, has just received from her boyfriend Himuro her first kiss when she is of sinister arms pulled after a visit to the cinema with him through a puddle in the past. There, in the ancient Anatolia at the time of the Hittites and the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun, Queen Nakia wants to make her own son Judah to the king, but it only need the other five princes - all have different mothers - are eliminated. To achieve this, she wants to show the prince with a deadly curse, which she wants to use them as human sacrifice Yuri who has kidnapped with their magic powers of their time.

Publications

Anatolia Story was released in Japan from 1995 to 2002 in separate chapters in the manga magazine Shōjo Comic. These individual chapters were summarized by Shogakukan Publishing in 28 anthologies. The manga had a total circulation of over 16 million copies in Japan.

In German Anatolia Story appeared in individual chapters in the magazine Manga Twister Egmont Manga and Anime, and was published as anthologies since August 2005 to March 2011, all 28 volumes have been published. The manga was as Red River also translated into English and as Il Cielo Vicino al Fiume Rosso into Italian. A Chinese version was published by Tong Li

For the series also a fan artbook was published in Japan, which includes, among other things, a story in which Yuri's first boyfriend she had before she was abducted in the past, as an archaeologist in today's Anatolia wrote on clay plates history of the reign Kail Mursilis and his queen Yuri Ishtar place.

Adaptations

From 1997 to 2003 appeared in Japan eight radio drama CDs based on the manga. On 24 February 1999 an artbook was published on July 26, 2002, there was a fanbook to manga. 2007, two novels were published about Anatolia Story.

Reception

Chie Shinohara was honored for Anatolia Story 2001 with the 46th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōjo category.

In the German magazine Manga Anatolia Story scene is described as an exciting story that is full of twists and intrigue, in which, however all too often die more beloved characters.
