Red River is a village in Taos County in the U.S. state of New Mexico. Red River has 484 inhabitants on an area of 2.6 square km. The village is quite the Carson National Forest on the border of Colfax County. The village has a ski area.

History

Red River flourished in the 1870s when gold was discovered in the village. The population at that time was about 3,000 inhabitants, and remained in this area until 1895, when the mines were closed. After that, the population decreased steadily. In the 1930s, the remaining inhabitants promoted tourism.
