The Redbone Coonhound is a not recognized by the FCI breed of dog in the United States. He is recognized by the UKC and since 2009 also by the AKC as a breed.
The Redbone Coonhound is mainly grown in Georgia. The name probably derives from a breeder named Peter Redbone of Tennessee. The Redbone Coonhound is a medium-sized ( to 66 cm) hunting dog. The fur of the dogs is short, hard and lying, in the colors red or red / white. He is the only Coonhound, which occurs predominantly monochrome. White areas he has often only on the feet or chest. Like all coonhounds it is used for coon hunting, but in addition also used as a companion dog.
