Redcliff, Zimbabwe

Redcliffe, also Redcliff, with 34,000 inhabitants ( 2006), the much smaller neighboring town of Kwekwe in the Midlands Province and is 1,306 m high in the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe. The deposits of iron ore here are huge. It is a city of iron and steel industry is the second largest production site of Black Africa. ZISCO ( Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company) and BIMCO ( Buchwa Iron Mining Company ) are the two largest employers in the city.

The current situation, however, is fatal. The steel production of 450,000 t in 2000 to 271 812 t in 2002 fell - with continued downward trend. Unemployment is now extremely high, ZISCO is about to cease funding. The infrastructure is rotten and no longer works in parts.
