Redlichiina

The trilobite Redlichia chinensis from the subordination Redlichiina

  • Worldwide

The Redlichiina addition to the Olenellina one of the two suborders of Trilobitenordnung Redlichiida. They are composed of the three superfamilies Emuelloidea, Paradoxidoidea and Redlichoidea.

Description

( Morphological terms are explained in more detail below the post trilobites )

Cephalon ( head shield ): The facial sutures ( Fazialsuturen ) are ophistopar. Early forms often have conically tapered Glabellen, dating back their furrows far back. In late stages, the glabella expands forwards out to a aufgebeulten Frontallobus. The hypostome either konterminant ( such as in Redlichia ) or natant ( as Dolerolenus ). The rostral plate is narrower than the subordination Olenellina and is bordered by rostral and weld lines.

Thorax ( breastplate ): It is characterized by the many segments (more than 60 at a Emuelliden ). On the spindle can schedule occasionally spines.

Pygidium ( tail sign ): Normally very small, but can be larger in some species and include several segments.

Phylogenesis

The Redlichiina already occur in the Cambrian for the first time and are therefore very old trilobite. Already at the end of Mittelkambriums they died out again - but had possibly been further developed in the order of Ptychopariida.

System

  • ( Lermontoviidae )?
  • Paradoxididae
  • Xystriduridae
  • Abadiellidae
  • Chengkouaspidae - including Bathynotidae
  • Dolerolenidae
  • Gigantopygidae
  • Kuechowiidae
  • Mayiellidae

  • Neoredlichiidae - as Neoredlichiinae subfamily of Redlichiidae
  • Redlichiidae
  • Saukiandidae
  • Yinitidae
  • Yunnanocephalidae - are usually sent to the Ptychopariida

The systematic position of the Bathynotidae is not yet clear, but they are usually asked to Chengkouaspidae due to the similarities of their upper carapace
