Reduce (Computeralgebrasystem)

Reduce is a computer algebra system that is suitable as a general purpose system and has been specially designed with regard to physical applications.

Since 2008 Reduce is released as open - source project and is available for free under a modified BSD license at SourceForge. The development stands since the 1960s under the direction of Anthony C. Hearn.

Reduce is implemented in a separate LISP dialect (Standard LISP ). The user language is RLISP that has an ALGOL -like syntax. Particular emphasis was placed on portability. There are versions for most flavors of Unix, Linux, MS Windows and Apple Macintosh.

Since version 4.2 offers the Dynamic Geometry Software (DGS ) GeoGebra on a separate console interface to access MPReduce as an internal computer algebra system.
