Reese Hoffa

Reese Hoffa ( born October 8, 1977 in Evans, Georgia as Maurice Antawn Chism ) is an American shot putter. He was world champion in 2007.

Hoffa was adopted shortly before his fifth birthday. He lived until the age of six years in Kentucky and then moved to Augusta. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Georgia and began with the shot put, he graduated in 2001 from the study.

His first major international success was winning the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 2004. At the Olympic Games in Athens, he was parted from, however in qualifying.

Two years later he won with a personal Hallenbestleistung of 22.11 m the title at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow. Also at the World Athletics Championships 2007 in Osaka, he won the gold medal with a distance of 22.04 m. In the same year he scored his best jump of 22.43 meters.

2008 Hoffa won the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships. As winner of the U.S. elimination fights he was a great favorite for the Olympic Games in Beijing, where he finished seventh, but only with 20,53 m. At the world championships 2009 he finished fourth in 2011 and fifth.

2012 build Hoffa at the World Indoor Championships in fourth place. Outdoors he took part in the Summer Olympic Games in London, where he won the bronze medal.

Reese Hoffa has a contest weight of 133 kg at a height of 1.82 m. He is married and lives in Athens, Georgia. Hoffa collides with the rotary push-through technique.
