Reformed Alliance

The Reformed covenant in Germany eV is a federation of Reformed churches, communities, organizations and individuals. He is regarded as an umbrella organization for about two million Reformed church members in Germany and has its seat since 2005 in Hanover.

As a federation, the federal government is no state church and therefore not a member of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD ), but there has guest status in the church conference.

History

The Reformed covenant was established in 1884. Members are:

  • Founded in 1882, the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Province of Hanover, since 2009 Evangelical Reformed Church ( ERK).
  • Predominantly Reformed Church of Lippe,
  • Founded in 1928, the Federation of Protestant Reformed churches in Germany,
  • The Evangelical Church Altreformierte (EWC) and
  • Individual Reformed Church congregations in the United regional churches.

This includes a total of about 400 embossed reformed communities and beyond about 730 individuals to the federal government on. Furthermore, in the Alliance of Reformed Churches, various Uniate country churches are represented, because they have in their area next to the Lutheran and United also reformed embossed communities. Thus, the following Uniate churches country Members shall delegate to the Moderamen of the Reformed Alliance:

  • Evangelical Church in the Rhineland
  • Evangelical Church of Westphalia
  • Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau
  • Evangelical Church of Hesse Electorate - Waldeck
  • Bremen Evangelical Church.

Management of the Federal

The Reformed Federation is headed by the bi -annual general meeting. Meanwhile, head of the Moderamen, the Board of the General Meeting, the federal government, whose Chairman is the moderator. The Moderamen has 24 members, of which twelve elected by the Annual General Meeting, nine are appointed by the participating churches and appointed three of Moderamen itself. At the headquarters of the Reformed Alliance in Hanover is the office with a manager who has the title Secretary. Currently pastor Jörg Schmidt has held this position.

Activities of the Federal

The Reformed covenant is a member of the anti-globalization network Attac. He also maintains its own working groups, such as the Convention on the north, in the theological and socio-political issues for the community work of the member communities were processed. In 2009, the Reformed covenant of the so-called year Calvin was responsible; celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Reformer John Calvin.
