Refuge Frédéric Chabod

The Rifugio Chabod is a refuge in the Graian. It lies at an altitude of 2750 m s.l.m. within the community Valsavarenche in the homonymous valley. The Valsavarenche Valley is a side valley of the Valle d'Aosta region of northwest Italy. The lodge opened in 1985 and is used as a base for the ascent of Gran Paradiso. The lodge is run from mid-March to early May and from mid-June to mid-September and offers at this time 85 climbers sleeps. In the remaining time of the year, the winter room with 16 camps open.

Is named the cottage after Federico Chabod, an Italian historian, who came from the Aosta Valley and began in the forties for its autonomy.

Increase

The increase to the hut begins in Pravieux, one located on 1,834 m district of Valsavarenche, in a parking lot on the road through the Val Savarenche. First, it briefly goes into the valley to the south. Soon the path leads east up the slope, initially through a sparse forest, later on meadows and moraine. Are to be estimated 2 ½ hours for any technical difficulties having increase of Pravieux.
