Regal Entertainment Group is the largest cinema chain in North America (USA and Canada). The company operated in 2007 in 40 U.S. states at 527 locations total of 6,388 screens.

The Group, based in Knoxville (Tennessee ) was created in 2002 when the billionaire Philip Anschutz F. ( Anschutz Entertainment Group ) bought up several smaller chains that had become insolvent mid-1990s after the end of the multiplex cinema boom. Anschutz is now the majority shareholder of the company.

The Regal Entertainment Group operates its theaters under several brands, the largest of which are

  • Regal Cinemas,
  • Edwards Theatres and
  • United Artists Theatres.
