Regenberg is a municipality in the district of Dielsdorf the canton of Zurich in Switzerland.

Geography

The medieval country town and former center of the western canton of Zurich country lies on a rocky outcrop high above the warehouses Dielsdorf. To Regenberg includes the Hirsmühle, a directly adjacent to Dielsdorf Urbanization with an old mill.

History

The town Regenberg (or time New Regenberg ) was founded in 1244 by the Barons Lütold V of rain mountain. The family seat of the rain Berger (Alt - rain mountain ) located on the territory of the municipality rain village, near Zurich -Affoltern and cats lakes. The decisive factor for the formation of mountain rain was probably the strategic location. Already in 1302 Lütold VII was forced to sell the town the Habsburgs, which it pledged in 1409 to the city of Zurich.

1417 went Regenberg final in Zurich's possession over and became the seat of a provincial governor. As 1798, the Helvetic Republic was founded, it was annexed to the District Bülach.

After the end of the Helvetic Republic in 1803 it became the district capital, but lost this function 1871 Dielsdorf, which was obtained by the construction of railways in importance.
