Regional science

The Regional Science (also: Regional Research ) focuses on socio - or politico- economic perspective, with the genesis and constitution of regions, so it is in the average range of regional economics, economic geography and economic sociology (especially sociology of markets, industry and business sociology ). In practice, there are primarily links to regional policy, regional planning and applied geography.

From an institutional perspective, the Regional Science by Walter Isard was founded, in 1954 the worldwide umbrella organization of the Regional Science Association, which has been called since 1989 the Regional Science Association International founded. The German -speaking subsection Society for Regional Research was founded in 1963. Closely related is the story of the bin with the University of Pennsylvania, on the Isard decades taught and researched. The first Ph.D. in Regional Science at this university acquired in 1960 William Alonso. The Department of Regional Science, however, was closed in 1993. History of ideas, is called Isard, not least on Walter Christaller and August deletion.
