Regions of Mauritania

Here is a list of regions in Mauritania.

The state is divided into 12 regions (French région; Arab ولاية, DMG wilaya ) and the Capital District. The following list next to the names of the regions in the corresponding capitals in parentheses.

The regions are subdivided in turn into départements (Arabic مقاطعة, DMG Muqata ʿ a).
