Registan

The Registan ( usbek.: Registon ) is one of the most magnificent places in Central Asia Samarkand ( Uzbek: Samarqand ). Registan is the heart of the ancient Samarkand, whose name could be translated as " Sandy place ". The ensemble of three Madrasa is a unique example of the art of city building and the architectural design of the main square of the city. The three Madrasa Registans are: Ulugbek Madrasah (1417-1420), Sher -Dor Madrasah (1619-1636) and Tilya - Kori Madrasah ( 1646-1660 ).

The Ulugbek Madrasah is trimmed with its mighty portal and a lancet - arch the square. The corners are equipped with high proportional minarets.
