Geography

Regnitzlosau is nestled in the foothills of the mountain range Fichtelgebirge, Franconian Forest and Elstergebirge.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the eastern district of Hof in the valley of the Southern Regnitz, which flows through the municipal area from east to west.

Nature reserve

History

The name is derived from the Regnitzlosau flowing in the Saxon Saale Regnitz and the name of the noble family of Lasan.

Regnitzlosau was first mentioned in 1234 in a Latin document. Cunradus, Arnoldus and Ciban de Lasan (from Losau ) attest to this as a foundation of Cunradus of Kotzau to the monastery Speinshart.
