Reijo Mäki

Reijo Juhani Mäki ( born October 12, 1958 in Siikainen, Finland), Finnish crime writer and creator of the character of the private eye Jussi Valtteri Vares Turku. In Finland, 18 novels about the hard-nosed investigator bachelors have been published with the sleazy image, of which most are located in the underworld and pub milieu of the city of Turku. The first German translation appeared in 1996 ( " The garter snake "). 2004 saw the first film adaptation of a novel Vares in the Finnish cinema ( " Vares - yksityisetsivä "). Since 2006, the film " The yellow Widow" based on the novel, also available on DVD in Germany.

During his studies Mäki worked as a woodcutter, shipyard workers, bouncers and as a ticket seller in the Stockholm subway. After graduating from the University of Economics Turku Reijo Mäki worked in the banking sector. During his first professional year, he began to write. His debut novel " Enkelipöly " was released in 1985. After ten years in the profession Mäki decided to turn his back on the world of banking. Mäki published about the year clock a book. In addition to novels, he also writes short stories and newspaper columns.
