Rein Lang

Rein Lang ( born July 4, 1957 in Tartu) is an Estonian politician. He was from April 2011 to December 2013 Minister of Culture of the Republic of Estonia. Long belongs since 1995 to the liberal Reform Party on ( Reformierakond ).

Life

Rein Lang grew up in Finland, where his father worked as a Soviet diplomat. He graduated in 1980 Studied law at the University of Tartu. With restoration of Estonian independence, he first went into the private sector. In 1992 he founded the first private radio company of Estonia. Lang was from 2001 to 2003 Deputy Mayor of Tallinn. From 2003 to 2005 he was a member of the Estonian Parliament, including as Deputy Parliament Speaker and Chairman of the European Affairs Committee. He was an Estonian member of the European Convention.

From 21 February to 13 April 2005 Non was briefly foreign minister in the government of Juhan Parts. On 13 April 2005, he became Minister of Justice in the government of Prime Minister Andrus Ansip.

In April 2011, Lang joined the government to the post of Minister of Culture. In November 2013, the opposition and journalists ' organizations strongly criticized him because he had interfered in the internal affairs of the state-sponsored cultural newspaper Sirp. Lang joined a month later from his post as Minister of Culture back. He has since been back a deputy in the Parliament.
