Reinhard Brandt

Reinhard Brandt ( born April 10, 1937 in Small Gladebrügge in Bad Segeberg ) is a German philosopher.

Life

Brandt studied Greek, Latin and philosophy at the universities of Marburg, Munich and Paris. In 1965, he completed a doctorate on the Aristotelian doctrine of judgment. The habilitation was on an unpublished work of David Hume's theoretical philosophy.

From 1972, Brandt was appointed professor of history of philosophy in Marburg. In 2003 he retired. He also taught at several other universities, including the Universidad Simón Bolívar (Caracas ), Indiana University ( Bloomington ), Bielefeld, Padua, Venice, Hall, Canberra, Munich and Rome (Roma III). His research focus is the philosophy of Immanuel Kant. Recently, he has published numerous essays on Kant in Italian.
