Reinhold Brinkmann

Reinhold Brinkmann ( born August 21, 1934 in Wildeshausen, † 10 October, 2010 Eckernförde ) was a German musicologist.

Life

Brinkmann, who was op 11 PhD after studying music education and German literature in 1967 in Freiburg with a thesis on Schoenberg's Piano Pieces, 1970 habilitation at the Free University of Berlin, where he became a professor first. 1972 to 1980 he taught at the University of Marburg, then to 1985, back in Berlin, this time at the University of Arts in Berlin. Since 1985 he has taught at Harvard University. 2001 Brinkmann was awarded the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize.

He worked with diversified publications, especially in the field of theory and history of music from the 18th to the 20th century with special emphasis on the interdisciplinary aspects of music.

Reinhold Brinkmann was buried at sea.
