Reinhold Mathy

Reinhold Mathy ( born April 12, 1962 in Memmingen ) is a former German football player.

Career

Clubs

Mathy was from the 1980/81 season to the First Team of Bayern Munich, for whom he came in seven years on 100 stakes, scoring 21 goals. His league debut came with Substitutes in the 87th minute for Norbert Janzon in a 3-1 home win over VfL Bochum on 18th October 1980 ( 10th Round ). His first Bundesliga goal was 5-1 on 11 April 1981 ( 28th Round ) at the home victory over MSV Duisburg. In addition, he played three times in the national cup competition ( including the two final games against Borussia Moenchengladbach in 1984 and against VfB Stuttgart 1986) and 14 times in European Cup competitions. Highlights were the final of the European Cup of Champions 1981/82, which was lost to Aston Villa 0-1 gates, the first knockout round first leg on 23 October 1985, when he scored three goals in a 4-2 victory over Austria Wien and the preliminary round first leg in 1986 when he scored both goals in the 2-0 win at PSV Eindhoven.

In 1987, Mathy to Bayer 05 Uerdingen and played for the "Factory Club" until 1990, 78 times in the league and once in the DFB Cup. After three seasons, he moved to Switzerland for FC Wettingen, for which he - among other things under coach Wolfgang Frank - in the seasons 1990/91 and 1991/92 played.

His career ended after only eleven operations - due to numerous injuries - in the 2nd Bundesliga with Hannover 96 on 25 May 1993 ( 44th Round ) in the encounter FC 08 Homburg - Hannover 96 (1:2).

National

For the U-18 national team Mathy played between November 28, 1979 ( 5-1 win against and in Luxembourg ) and 20 May 1980 ( 0-1 defeat against Romania in Braunsbreda ) six times - without scoring. He was first appointed to the U- 21 team in 1982. His goal meant on March 23 in Schwenningen against Switzerland 1-1 draw. 1983 was followed by five more missions in the national team against Portugal (1 ) Albania (1), Hungary, Austria, Turkey ( 2) and an insert 1984 against Belgium (1). He scored six goals in seven games.
