Reinhold Sadler

Reinhold Sadler ( born January 10, 1848 in Czarnikau, Prussia, † January 30, 1906 in Eureka, Nevada ) was an American politician and 1896-1903 Governor of the State of Nevada.

Early years and career

Born in what is now Poland Reinhold Sadler attended the public schools of his home. He emigrated to the U.S. and first went to Virginia City, then to Eureka, where he was employed as a miller, a merchant and mining. In 1880 he was elected treasurer in Eureka County. In 1895 he was a Deputy Governor Deputy Governor of Nevada. He was sworn in after the death of John Edward Jones as the new governor, and was then selected as the candidate of the Silver Party 1898 formally to the Governor of Nevada.

Governor of Nevada

From April 10, 1896 to January 5, 1903 Sadler served as governor. During this period, health programs have been adopted and established an agricultural school ( Farmer's Institute). In addition, the first measures to protect the environment have been taken. In 1902, Sadler declined to run again.

After his tenure Sadler returned to Eureka and devoted himself to his private business affairs. In 1904 he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Congress. Reinhold Sadler died in January 1906. He was buried in the cemetery in Carson City. With his wife Louise Zadow he had five children.
