Reitnau

Reitnau (Swiss German: rɛit ː ˌ nɔu ) is a municipality in the district of Zofingen in the canton of Aargau. It lies in the middle Suhrental and borders the Canton of Lucerne.

Geography

The community consists of three parts, the building is loose grown together. On the western edge of the completely flat valley floor is the lower village. History

Various found objects point to a settlement during the Bronze Age. The first mention of Reitinowa place in the year 1045. Those days the Count of Lenzburg sold the village and the church to the monastery GeopathSchänis. The place name comes from the Old High German Reitinouwa and means " water near land of Reito ".
