rekonq

Rekonq is a developed within KDE web browser. He uses WebKit as html rendering engine and thus inherits its high compatibility with web standards. He is considered intuitive, competitive browser, uses fewer resources and fast.

He is ( as usual with KDE applications) written in C and is distributed as free software in the source code under the terms of version 3 of the GNU General Public License ( GPL). It integrates into the KDE Plasma Workspaces.

Functions

Rekonq tells Konqueror a common cookie and bookmark system that stores passwords in the password keeper wallet at central and attacks for Downloads Back to KGet. The minimalist user interface leans heavily on concepts in many aspects of Chrome at. In development is an interface for extensions, which is compatible with Chrome. A function to block advertisement is already integrated. Functions for selective avoidance ( " Private mode") or the deletion of surf data (" Clear Private Data " ) are available.

Technology

Rekonq is based on QtWebKit, a module of the KDE Software Compilation entire underlying user interface toolkit Qt, Qt applications allows rendering and interaction with Web pages using WebKit. It uses KDE-Input/Output-System ( KIO ) and attacks for numerous functions on the standard tools of the KDE Software Compilation back.

History

Rekonq was developed as a spin-off of started by Nokia Qt demonstration application " QtDemoBrowser ". On 25 May 2010 it was included in the " Extragear " Department of KDE. rekonq is now standard for Chakra GNU / Linux and Kubuntu ( since version 10.10).
