Remaclus

Remaclus (* 600, † 673 or 679 ) was bishop and Holy Monastery of the Catholic Church (Day: September 3 ).

Life

Remaclus was a monk at Luxeuil, as it Eligius 632 appointed abbot of the monastery of Solignac. When he then King Sigebert III. granted the right to found an abbey, Remaclus even built two of them, namely the monasteries of Stavelot and Malmedy. The monasteries were the Imperial Abbey of Stavelot - Malmedy. This, however, various dioceses were awarded ( Stablo the diocese of Liege Malmedy and the archbishopric of Cologne), which led to a prolonged coexistence in discord.

Remaclus was buried in Stavelot. A Medallion from Remacle altarpiece is now in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin.
