Remastersys

Remastersys is a free open source script for Debian and Ubuntu with the following features:

  • Backups of entire systems, including user data, on installable live CDs.

The program is available in a command-line version and a GUI version. Ubuntu and Ubuntu - based distributions are currently supported.

History

Remastersys was originally programmed to create simple backups or copies of a current Ubuntu installation. The idea came from the script mklivecd, which is used by Mandriva and the remasterme script for PCLinuxOS. The program was written from scratch because the scripts were not easily portable.

In April 2013, the development has not been the original maintainer. Similarly, in April 2013 resulted in a fork of the project in which the sources are available.
